Exposure Control Plan
The purpose of the exposure control plan for bloodborne pathogens is to reduce the potential for employee exposure to occupational incidents involving blood and other potentially infectious materials such as:
- Human Immunodeficiency Visure (HIV)
- Hepatitis B Virus (HBV)
- Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)

Training
Bloodborne pathogen training is available online or in a classroom setting and should be taken annually.
The online training is available through Keenan SafeColleges.
We recommend that employees who have occupational exposure do classroom training instead of the online training. This allows us to address specific risks and procedures that apply to the department or campus. Employees may choose to take the online training and then attend a follow-up meeting to discuss items specific to their department.
Be sure to document all classroom training attendees using a training sign-in sheet (PDF).
Hepatitis B Vaccination Acceptance or Declination Form
All employees whose job classification may expose them to bloodborne pathogens must complete the Hepatitis B Vaccination Acceptance or Declination Form GS-178 (PDF) and return it to Human Resources.
