Overview
Asbestos awareness training is required for all staff who conduct activities where they contact but do not disturb materials that contain asbestos. To make sure employees are not exposed to asbestos or create exposures to building occupants, the following types of employees should take the awareness training:
- Custodians who clean flooring, wipe down surfaces with acoustic or plaster fallout, sweep in mechanical rooms, and so on
- Maintenance workers who cut, drill, demolish, and/or repair surfaces and equipment that may contain asbestos
- Mechanics who handle brakes, clutches, and gaskets that may contain asbestos
- Grounds workers who irrigate pipes that may be made of asbestos cement or handle valve seals or flange gaskets that may contain asbestos
- Internet technologies/communication workers who run lines and cables through ceiling spaces and drill through walls, floors, and ceilings
Training
Supervisor Instructions
Supervisors should follow these instructions to get their employees access to training:
- Determine who needs to complete the training.
- Make a list in Excel with the employee’s ID number (no W but with the preceding zeros), last name, and first name – each item in its own column.
- Email the Excel file to Debbie Turner at turnerd@losrios.edu
- Debbie Turner will provide usernames and passwords for the online training.
Employee Instructions
- Ask your supervisor for your username and password.
- Go to webetrainer.com to log into the system and begin training.
- Though the training takes two hours total, employees can take this training in smaller time increments (for example, 30 minutes at a time). The system allows for logging in and out for up to two weeks.
- The training is attached to an incentive program with a chance to win a prize. The better your score is, the more chances you have to earn spins on the prize wheel. There is a max of 5 spins.
- Training results will be given to Human Resources.
- Training is good for one year.
