Academy Overview

In FastTrack you are provided with personalized support and resources designed to help you align your online courses to the CVC@ONE Online Course Design Rubric.

The Rubric consists of the following five sections:

  • Section 0: Accessibility
  • Section 1: Policies and Support
  • Section 2: Course Structure
  • Section 3: Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI)
  • Section 4: Assessments

The FastTrack Process: Step by Step

Step 1: Getting Started

  • Register for FastTrack
Complete the FastTrack registration form. This signals you are ready to begin the process of aligning your course to the CVC@ONE Online Course Design Rubric.
  • Meet with your mentor
After registering, you will be contacted by your Mentor to review the course you would like to align and discuss a plan of action.
  • Access the FastTrack resources
At this time, you will be enrolled in the FastTrack Canvas Course to access the rich resources there. At the same time, you will receive a course named “FastTrack_XXX_CourseName_YourLastName.” We will have copied the course you wish to align into this shell for the purposes of completing the FastTrack process.

Step 2: Using the FastTrack Canvas Resources

In the New FastTrack CVC@ONE Rubric Academy, each informational Module is based on one of the CVC@ONE Rubric sections. Each criterion of the rubric is addressed in those sections with an explanation, examples, and suggestions on how you might update your course to align with that criterion. You may find that you are aligned to many of the criteria already!

  • Use FastTrack resources to modify your course to align to the CVC@ONE Rubric
As you proceed through these rich resources, you will start making changes to your course right away in your FastTrack Shell. You will perform all updates to your course within this shell which, in the end, will represent a quality online course that aligns perfectly with the CVC@ONE Online Course Design Rubric.
  • Work with your Mentor as needed
Your Mentor will be your main support. You can also share your experiences, ask questions, and offer advice to other FastTrackers in the FastTrack Exchange discussion within Canvas. It will always be open, and we encourage you to use it to collaborate with your colleagues! In the meantime, your FastTrack Mentor will be checking in with you.

Step 3: Review and Planning

  • Submit course to Peer Online Course Reviewer (POCR)
After making the updates to your course, your Mentor will inform you that you are ready for a POCR Review. For your POCR Review, a confidential peer review of Sections one to four of the Rubric by one of our trained Local POCRs will take place when you are ready. During this time, you will not have access to the course shell to make any additional changes.
  • After POCR Review
When the POCR Review is complete, your FastTrack Mentor will also complete a review of the POCR review, referencing the comments of the Local POCR. This will be shared with you.
  • Meet with your Mentor
Your FastTrack Mentor will then contact you to arrange a meeting, during which an action plan for any further course remediation will be developed and proposed.
  • Plan further course alignment as needed
Following the mutually agreed upon plan, you and your FastTrack Mentor will work collaboratively to address any remaining issues identified during the review process–refining and adding finishing touches before the final internal review.

Step 4: Final Review and Submission

  • Course will have one final review by your Mentor
One final review will be done by your FastTrack Mentor to confirm that the course is ready to be sent forward to CVC@ONE.
  • Your mentor submits your course to CVC@ONE
After your course is submitted to receive the Quality Reviewed Badge, your mentor sends out a congratulatory email, cc’ing your Dean and Department Chair, along with your certificate of completion.

Step 5: Stipends

  • Stipends are distributed three times a year:
    • Fall submissions between August 5 and December 1 are paid February 10
    • Spring submissions between December 2 and April 30 are paid June 10
    • Summer submissions between May 1 and August 4 are paid October 10
  • If you chose Salary Advancement Credit, you can submit your final application form to HR right after your course has been submitted to the CVC@ONE for Quality Reviewed Badging.

Start thinking about the next course you want to align with the CVC@ONE Online Course Design Rubric!
