Our official logos are the visual cornerstone of Los Rios Community College District's brand. Acting as a signature, an identifier, and a stamp of quality, they represent us at the very highest level.
Please note: All logos on this page have been federally trademarked by Los Rios Community College District for district use only; no outside entities are permitted to use without express written consent from the Communications and Media Relations Office.
Our Identity
Los Rios' focus on student success and, as a result, enhancing the vitality of our region, is represented in this logo system. Under the shield all four Los Rios colleges, the students we serve, faculty, staff, and our regional partners are unified as one community and one district.
The word community in the logo acts as an anchor to highlight the district's commitment to inclusion.
The emphasis on community acts as an intrinsic tagline that works to promote the district even when no other tagline is present. The logo also highlights the vital resources and mighty rivers of the Sacramento region with bold, fluid shapes and transitioning shades of blue.
Our logo is the visual cornerstone of the brand. Please follow our guides to ensure correct use of the logo and its variations.

College Lockups
The Los Rios Community College District is home to four outstanding colleges and educational centers throughout the Sacramento region. As such, there must be visual continuity and cohesion between the various partners. Following these guidelines will help ensure that students and members of our community understand the relationship between the district and our colleges. That consistent brand connection conveys a level of quality and opportunity throughout our district.
These are to be used on districtwide digital, social, and print collateral pieces when marketing brand awareness, enrollment, persistence, Career Education, Smart Move, and the Los Rios Promise Program. Use on materials and information shared broadly throughout the Sacramento region where the recognition of connection to the larger district may signal high value and/or service. There may be specific exceptions to this use case.
Primary Lockups
Secondary Lockups
The secondary lockup versions are to be used when spacing/sizing is limited. They are more ideal for social and digital pieces.

Logo Usage Guidelines
Clear Space
It is crucial to protect the space around the logo in order to retain its integrity and impact. The minimum clear space must be used and maintained throughout all District materials. Use the "L" within the wordmark when measuring for the proper clear space. This measuring tool is always in relation to the size of the logo on the page.
Minimum Size
Never reduce the logo to less than 1.5 inches for print materials and maintain 100-pixel width for any and all digital collateral. There is no maximum size limit but use discretion when sizing the logo.
Print: Minimum 1.5 inches wide.
Digital: Minimum 100 pixels wide.
Color
Downloaded logo packages contain full-color, black, and/or white versions. These color guidelines should be followed:
- Make sure there is enough contrast for the white logo on a color background
- CMYK color logos are for print use (for example: printed flyers or posters)
- RGB color logos are for screen use (for example: email, web, or video)
See our color guide for official color values.
Logo Misuse
The logo must be used with consistency in order to keep brand continuity and visual impact. Here are some examples of how not to use the logo.
Secondary Logos
To properly present your department, area, or program, it is important to maintain consistency with the Los Rios branding. Secondary logos are an excellent way to visually communicate the relationship between the District and your area.
Secondary logos are depicted with the official horizontal version of the Los Rios logo, with the department/area/program name below. Co-brands can be printed in full color, black, or white (reversed). For assistance in creating a secondary logo, please complete a Graphic Design Request via the Marketing & Website Support Request Form.
Which Entities Are Allowed To Use These Secondary Logos?
The following entities are permitted and should use the official secondary logo:
- Educational centers
- Academic departments/divisions
- College libraries
- Student support services
- Instructional support services
Specialty Logos
Official college and district logos—including side-by-side lockups and approved secondary logos—are designed to maintain a clear, consistent, and recognizable Los Rios brand. The creation of numerous unique logos weakens brand recognition, reduces effectiveness, and can create confusion for students and the community. For these reasons, additional logos are strongly discouraged and approved only in limited circumstances.
Are There Any Exceptions?
A limited number of initiatives and community partners may require a specialty logo to better help individualize them for marketing purposes. Approved exceptions may include Los Rios partnerships, community initiatives, or programs with established trademarked identities.
All specialty logos must clearly connect to Los Rios Community College District and are subject to review and approval prior to use. Requests can be submitted to the Communications and Media Relations Office.
If You Have an Approved Specialty Logo
-
The specialty logo may be used on its own for internal communications only.
-
For all external marketing and communications, the specialty logo must appear alongside the official Los Rios logo.
-
Once approved, the specialty logo must be retained for a minimum of three years to support brand continuity and integrity.
Please note: A small number of specialty logos were legacied-in prior to the implementation of these guidelines on March 1, 2026.
How Else Can I Promote My Program, Service, or Event?
The district offers a wide range of marketing and promotional support options that do not require the creation of a specialty logo. Departments are encouraged to submit a Marketing & Website Support Request Form to explore available resources, including graphic design, event promotion, and web services, all provided at no cost by the Los Rios Marketing and Communications team.
