Adjunct Professional Development and College Service Information

This page provides an overview of the Adjunct Faculty Professional Development and College Service Program, including eligibility requirements, compensation details, important deadlines, and how to complete the required eForm.

Program Overview

The Adjunct Faculty Professional Development and College Service Program provides eligible adjunct faculty with paid opportunities to participate in professional development and college service activities that enhance student learning, support institutional goals, and foster engagement across the Los Rios community.

Eligibility

  • Adjunct faculty must have an active adjunct assignment during the semester in which activities are completed. Faculty without an active assignment are not eligible for participation or compensation.
  • Eligible adjunct faculty may complete up to 27 hours of combined (districtwide) compensated activities per academic year. Activities may be split across the fall and spring semesters or completed in one semester.
  • Eligible adjunct faculty must have enough FTE for activities that are FTE-creditable; this cannot exceed 67%, or 62% for counselors.

Compensation

Pay Dates

  • Fall semester: paid on February 10
  • Spring semester: paid on July 10

Approved Activities

Not all activities qualify for compensation. View the Approved Activities List.

Deadlines

  • Submit your application by August 15 for the academic year in which the activities were completed.
  • Submit your application before your contract ends for the semester to maintain access to Employee Self-Service.
  • Late applications will not be accepted.

Flex Obligation

Some adjunct faculty may have a Flex obligation based on their schedule. Check your Tentative Course Schedule (TCS) to see if this applies to you.

  • If adjunct faculty have a Flex obligation, they must complete that section before entering PD/College Service hours.
  • The number of Flex hours entered must match what is listed in the adjunct faculty's TCS.
  • Flex hours are separate from hours eligible under this program.
  • Completion of the Flex Activities table in the online form does not take the place of normal Flex reporting at the campus level. Adjunct faculty must still report Flex through their campus-based system.

ESA/PEX Processing

Key Updates

  • Automatic Contract Generation: ESA (with and/or without FTE) and PEX contracts are auto-generated based on activities submitted via the Adjunct PD eForm.
  • Verification Required: The Instruction Office or ISA role must verify ESA and PEX entries against program rules and guidelines.

Payment Timing

  • Fall ESA Dates: December 1 through 31 – paid on February 10 (Variable Payroll).
  • Spring ESA Dates: May 1 through mid-May – paid on July 10 (Variable Payroll).
  • These ESA payments will be processed as write-ins due to submission deadlines.
