This training invites educators and staff to learn about Los Rios Student Health and Wellness’ role in campus safety. This training will review how to best connect students to care, responding to mental health and physical health emergencies, the suicide risk protocol, and incident response (any event that has a significant impact on the emotional and mental well-being of the college community such as a death, suicide, significant loss, community violence, natural disaster, etc.). Participants will learn strategies for navigating students correctly, providing warm handoffs, and what resources are available to them at all colleges. Understanding the supports and systems of your college is essential to supporting our diverse and dynamic students.
Facilitated by Los Rios Student Health and Wellness Services’ Victoria Flores and Taylor Johnson.
Meets State Professional Development Guideline B: Staff development, in-service training, and instructional improvement; and Guideline F: Related activities, such as student advising, guidance, orientation, matriculation services, and student, faculty, and staff diversity.
